The Pousada Marao
(official name
Pousada São Gonçalo) is a hotel in a beautiful mountain setting - just the right
kind of place for the outdoors type - and nature lovers of all sorts. The view
from this Pousada (and all bedrooms) out over the valley below is outstanding.
The famous Mateus Palace - a place of
supurb architectural beauty - makes for a great day trip from the
Pousada.
This was the second Pousada of the
network to be opened in 1942. It is built of stone from the area, and
is architecture is in total harmony with the magnificent landscape of
the region.
